Doha: Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage H E Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari yesterday honoured winners of the GCC visual art forum’s competition.
In fine arts, Bahrain’s Zohair Said and Marwa Al Khalifa won the first and third place and the second place went to Oman’s Eissa Al Mofarji.
Khalid Al Rawahi, also from Oman, won the first prize in Arabic calligraphy.
Al Kuwari expressed satisfaction with the level of this year’s entries. He said Qatar’s proposal to hold a permanent GCC arts exhibition was welcomed by GCC culture ministers.
He said such events help enrich artistic dialogue between GCC citizens.
On Sunday evening, the Minister opened the third Doha Forum for GCC artists at Katara.
It is organised by the Visual Arts Department of the ministry, attended by a group of artists and critics from Qatar and other Gulf states, among others. Both events continue until November 11.
