Doha: The Qatar Chapter of the Institution of Engineers (India) celebrated the 48th Engineers Day for the 24th year in a row in Qatar on Saturday.
The celebration was held at Givana Hall in Radisson Blu Hotel, attended by over 190 engineers. Indian Ambassador and Patron of the Chapter Sanjiv Arora was Chief Guest. He congratulated engineers on the eve of the day and praised the good work of the chapter’s committee.
He spoke about ‘Make In India’, an initiative of the Indian government to encourage multinational and domestic companies to manufacture their products in India. It was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 25 2014.

Andrew Wadman gave a presentation on the celebration theme ‘Engineering Challenges in the Knowledge Era’, and Vemu Sekar Babu, Member, Executive Committee, presented a summary of the theme seminar on five topics held at ICC on September 26 and October 7.
Seenu Pillai, Honorary Chairman of the chapter, thanked the Indian embassy for support.
In India, September 15 is celebrated every year as Engineers’ Day to commemorate the birthday of legendary engineer Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya and his contribution to society.
