DOHA: Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) is leading a delegation to 2015 ITB-Asia to be held in Singapore from tomorrow until Friday.
The B2B trade show and convention is expected to attract more than last year’s 9,650 visitors from 108 countries, including over 850 registered trade buyers.
The QTA stand will be one of over 50 pavilions among 750 exhibitors representing all sectors of the international travel trade. The delegation includes QTA members, representatives from Grand Hyatt Doha, Wyndham Grand Regency Hotel Doha, Qatar Airways Holidays, Arabian Adventures Qatar, Arab Destination of Tourism and FAL Travelmart Travel & Tours. “The scale and reach of ITB-Asia offer us a showcase for Qatar’s tourism attractions in the rapidly developing Asia-Pacific market,” said Rashed Al Qurese, Chief Marketing & Promotions Officer, QTA, adding .
He said many of Qatar’s most rapidly expanding visitor source markets are in the Far East.
“We are seeing some impressive growth figures from the region, including 22 percent for Hong Kong, 17 for China and 34 for Thailand in the first eight months of 2015. The numbers are relatively small, but our primary interest is the long-term potential which we believe will be excellent,” he added.
The delegation will highlight Qatar’s growing status as a premium destination for business travellers and leisure tourists.
Emphasis will be placed on the country’s location and accessibility, thanks to direct flights to over 140 cities around the world through Qatar Airways network, including services to all major Southeast Asian capitals.
This opens the possibility of promoting stopovers for travellers en route from Southeast Asia to Europe. QTA will also feature Qatar as a destination offering Southeast Asian travellers outstanding cultural experiences.
