It was smiles all round for students at Doha College and Evolution Sports recently as they celebrated their first week of hard work with an exclusive visit from Michael Beale, the newly appointed Foundation Phase coach at Liverpool FC.
Sixth Form students studying on the brand new ‘Sports Industry Programme’ at Doha College’s Al Waab Campus took part in a ‘Coaching Masterclass’ with ‘Little League Sports’ (LLS) Ambassador Beale, alongside Evolution Sports coaches and students.
The Coaching Masterclass provided elite insight into the football industry. Beale displayed some outstanding sessions to spectators from the Doha teaching and student community followed by an insightful Q&A.
Beale had a clear message for the students. He explained: “It’s important to understand what makes you happy and motivated and to follow that passion with full commitment. The work and opportunities for sporting students here at Doha College, with LLS and Evolution Sports is a great foundation for a career in sports.”
Beale is one of the most talked about young coaches in world football right now - following his recent role as Assistant Manager of Sao Paulo FC in Brazil.
Beale spent two days at Doha College and spoke about his own coaching journey to groups of sports students and the coaches at Evolution Sports. His inspirational career started at Chelsea FC before moving on to Liverpool Football Club where he was in post as Under 23 Manager.
Following an exciting chapter in Brazil as Assistant Manager of Sao Paulo FC, Beale spoke about his love for youth development, his role as LLS Ambassador and touched on his return to Liverpool Football Club commenting:
“I believe the LLS Sports Industry programme is exactly what young people need when they are looking for a route in to the sports industry.
I have seen the great work of LLS first hand in Liverpool and have spoken to staff and students across the UK and Ireland and have really enjoyed visiting their programme in Doha College. The staff are passionate and the students are focused to achieve a great outcome at the end of the course.”
The ‘Sports Industry programme’ is a BTEC Level three qualification delivered at Doha College by LLS and complemented by work experience with Qatar’s leading sports coaching organisation Evolution Sports.
LLS Managing Director Jordan Wright said, “We have collaborated with two outstanding organisations in Doha College and Evolution Sports and are excited about the opportunities the students on the programme will receive.
Our aim is to educate and encourage students to develop a strong professional network and build up important sports industry related work experience before they go onto global employment or university.
Our first week has been a great success and the students studying with us have shown that they are prepared to work hard and are passionate about sport. They have planned and executed an excellent event and have already made some high profile additions to their professional network.”
Dr Steffen Sommer Principal of Doha College explained why the school had chosen to offer this BTEC programme. “Not all students choose to follow a traditional route to their careers and expanding our educational provision and offering alternative pathways for students is part of our development plans. I am delighted that this new BTEC course has proven so popular and offers such amazing opportunities for students to learn from experienced sports coaches with LLS and Evolution Sports.”
Tommy Westmoorland the Director of Evolution Sports said: “We are delighted to support LLS ad Doha College in offering work experience in the BTEC Diploma students and supporting visits like this. Evolution Sports is celebrating 10 years of success in Qatar and is offers a range of sports for children from 18 months to 16 years of age.”
Those who are between the age of 16-19 and interested in joining the LLS Sports Industry Programme at Doha College can contact the officials via emailing yourfuture@llsonline.uk as  limited places are available.
