Cairo: Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad of the Arab Republic of Egypt HE Dr. Badr Abdelatty, on the sidelines of the seventh session of the Joint Higher Committee held in Cairo.
During the meeting, they reviewed cooperation relations between the two countries and ways to support and develop them, as well as enhance coordination and joint action in various fields.
Both sides affirmed their keenness to continue developing bilateral relations, amid the growing momentum witnessed in these relations, high-level visits, and ongoing coordination and consultation between the two countries. They also emphasized the importance of the regular convening of the Joint Higher Committee, building on the outcomes of its seventh session, and translating them into practical steps that enhance cooperation between the two countries.
In this context, both sides commended the notable development in economic and investment relations, as the volume of trade exchange between the two countries increased by 80 percent during 2025, alongside the growth of Qatari investments in the sister Arab Republic of Egypt. They also highlighted the launch of the sustainable aviation fuel manufacturing project in the Suez Canal Economic Zone with direct Qatari investments, reflecting the growing momentum in economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting also addressed consular and labor cooperation between the two countries, and the importance of continuing coordination in a manner that serves common interests and meets the needs of the Qatari labor market.
The meeting also discussed the latest regional developments, diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and enhance security and stability in the region, and the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories. They reiterated their condemnation of Israel's declared rejection of the Roadmap aimed at completing the implementation of US President Donald Trump's comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza, which was endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2803 and accepted by the Palestinian factions, culminating intensive efforts by mediators, as well as Israel's rejection of the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Both sides affirmed the importance of continued coordination and consultation between the two brotherly countries and the need to unify positions regarding current developments, thereby strengthening efforts aimed at consolidating regional security and stability. In this context, they emphasized their support for efforts to resolve disputes through diplomatic means, stressing the importance of integrating regional and international efforts to defuse tensions and prioritize dialogue.
They also stressed the necessity of ensuring the security, safety, and freedom of maritime navigation, particularly in the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea, to preserve the smooth flow of international trade and enhance the security of vital maritime corridors, thereby achieving stability in the region.
Both sides further affirmed the importance of continuing coordination in support of the security and stability of the sister Lebanese Republic, its sovereignty, and the unity of its territories, and the necessity of the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territories, as well as support for state institutions, foremost among them the Lebanese Army.
Regarding Sudan, both sides stressed their support for Sudan's unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national institutions, and rejected any attempts to divide it or establish parallel entities. They also expressed utmost concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation.
The meeting also covered developments in the Horn of Africa region, where both sides affirmed the necessity of respecting the sovereignty of the region's countries and the unity of their territories, and refraining from any unilateral actions that could threaten regional peace and security or violate the provisions of international law.
The two sides agreed to continue close coordination and consultation between the State of Qatar and the sister Arab Republic of Egypt, and to build on the growing momentum in bilateral relations in a manner that serves the common interests of both countries and brotherly peoples.
