Manama: Bahrain has vigorously condemned repeated Iranian attacks using projectiles and one-way attack drones that targeted its civilian and critical facilities.
It said these assaults flagrantly violate the nation's sovereignty, security, and stability and directly endanger civilians, adding that they gravely breach the international rules-based order, international humanitarian law, the UN Charter, the ethos of good neighborliness, and resolutions of international legitimacy, most notably UN Security Council Resolution 2817.
In a statement, the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that it decries Iran's attack on the civil aviation air navigation systems serving the Flight Information Region (FIR) using hostile one-way attack drones.
The Ministry considered this act a menacing threat to international civil aviation safety and the lives of passengers and crews, as well as a blatant violation of the Convention on International Civil Aviation (Chicago Convention) and ICAO resolutions.
It deemed these actions as gravely running roughshod over international norms and charters prohibiting the targeting of civilian facilities.
The statement further emphasized that Bahrain has an inherent right to take all lawful measures to protect its sovereignty, security, and stability, and defend its territories and critical facilities based on Article 51 of the UN Charter and provisions of international law.
