DOHA: Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) hospitals received 1,469 patients on the third day of Eid, up by 200 from the first day.
A total of 531 patients were treated at Hamad General Hospital (HGH) and 438 at Al Wakrah Hospital, mainly for injuries caused by road accidents, chest pains and stomach disorders, including indigestion, Al Sharq reports. Al Wakrah Hospital admitted 15 for further treatment and one at the intensive care unit due to a cardiac problem.
Dr Nasser Huweidi, a consultant at emergency department, said 30 cases were into various sections of HGH. Majority of patients were treated for problems related to overeating and stomach disorders.
Ambulance Service responded to 515 calls, mostly from Doha area. About 60 percent of these were emergency calls, including two fire incidents in Abu Hamour and in Industrial Area. In both cases, people sustained minor injuries and were treated.
Air Ambulance responded to six cases, said Hussain Mohamed Kharmous, Assistant Director, Ambulances Services, HMC. Ambulance Service also responded to 12 cases in Sealine, and transferred three cases of injuries to HGH. Ambulance Service has deployed four emergency response units in the area, with two SUVs to reach patients fast. It has also provided 13 bicycles in crowded areas to provide first aid in case of an emergency.
In Al Shamal, Ambulance Service received many calls and transferred one patient to Al Khor Hospital.
Emergency service units are also deployed at Hamad International Airport, Katara Cultural Village and Aspire Zone.
