Cairo: The activities of the second meeting of the Media Experts Group on the Arab Media Strategy Action Plan, which is being organised by the Media and Communication Sector of the Arab League - the Technical Secretariat of the Council of Information Ministers, kicked off yesterday in Cairo.
The State of Qatar, represented by the Qatar Media Corporation, is participating in the two-day meeting.
Qatar Media Corporation is represented in the meeting by director of the department of planning, quality, and international cooperation Ahmed Ghasab Al Hajri and director of the international cooperation and agreements department Sheikh Ahmed bin Thani Al Thani.
The event comes in implementation of the recommendations issued by the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Information Ministers at its last meeting in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, in March, where the findings of the team’s work will be presented to the Permanent Committee for Arab Media to take recommendations to be further submitted to the next session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers.
The task of the working group is to manifestly evaluate the implementation track of the Arab Media Strategy, including discussing the obstacles that have hindered this guiding document that has been approved by the Council of Arab Information Ministers since 2017, within an effective methodological vision and according to a meticulous schedule and actionable priorities.
The Council of Arab Information Ministers had decided during its last session in June 2021 to extend the work of this strategy for an additional five years, and the strategy is fixated on key themes with the necessary continuation of media support for the Palestinian cause coming at the forefront. It also includes combatting of terrorism and extremism and serve the sustainable development, valuing the civilised and cultural image of the Arab personality, in addition to improving media performance through training programmes and partnerships in close cooperation with the relevant media organisations.
