Multiple cases of food poisoning were reported on the evening of Monday, June 12, 2017, after an Iftar organised by the Iraqi office of the British organisation 'Help the Needy' at Alkhazir Camp, where a number of takeaway meals were offered to residents of the camp. Concerning the incident, Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) would like to state the following:

- The organisation offers its full sympathy to those affected and their families, and prays to Allah for their quick recovery.

- There is no basis to any reports stating that RAF is responsible for this incident. This project was executed through the Iraq office of the British organisation "Help the Needy", an officially certified and recognised organization. The role of RAF is limited to financial support, and RAF has no involvement in the execution or supervision of preparing these meals.

- RAF affirms that it does not directly execute any project in Iraq. RAF provides funding to international and local humanitarian organisations certified by official authorities.

- An investigation is underway to identify the circumstances of the incident, and to take the necessary steps to help those affected, in coordination with official authorities.

- RAF affirms that it will continue to provide the highest standards of aid to displaced people in Iraq, in cooperation with international organisations, certified local organisations and the authorities.
