Doha: Qatar will host the 35th meeting of the undersecretaries responsible for environmental affairs in the GCC, at the Ritz-Carlton today.
The two-day meeting, to be inaugurated by Ahmed Mohammed Al Sada, Assistant Undersecretary for Environmental Affairs, Ministry of Environment, will discuss cooperation with the UN Environment Programme Regional Office for West Asia, Regional Organisation for Protection of Marine Environment and World Bank.
It will also review cooperation within strategic dialogue with Turkey, Jordan and Morocco.
The meeting will review a study to establish the GCC Environmental Monitoring Centre and developments with regard to UN Convention on Climate Change, Kyoto Protocol, Vienna Convention for Protection of the Ozone Layer, and Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer.
The GCC environment and wildlife award will also be discussed.
