Actress Nora Aunor said she will endorse Senator Grace Poe-Llamanzares’ presidential bid once the lawmaker decides to run for the top government post in May 2016 elections.
Interviewed by reporters after attending a Senate hearing on film industry bills, Aunor repeatedly said yes when asked if she will support Poe’s bid should she run for President.
“If you were to ask me, I will tell her myself she should run for president,” Aunor said in Filipino.
“Yes, (I will campaign for her) 101 percent,” Aunor also said.
Aunor said she will not support Poe just because she is the daughter of the late actor Fernando Poe, Jr. but because she believes the senator can set a good example to all Filipinos.
“For me, I am impressed with the way she does things. She is sincere. You can feel it in your heart she is truly sincere,” she added.
The actress, Ma. Leonora Teresa Cabaltera Villamayor in real life, was also at the Senate to receive the upper chamber’s commendation for being bestowed the Lifetime Achievement Award by the ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA) last April 11 at the Borneo Convention Centre in Kuching, Malaysia.
It was Sen. Manuel “Lito” Lapid who filed Senate Resolution No. 1270 which the Senate later on adopted.
The AIFFA is a biennial event that celebrates the best of films in the ASEAN Region.
“The Senate on several occasions acknowledged outstanding Filipinos for their astonishing feat of bringing home pride and glory to the country by becoming champions in the international scene,” the resolution said.
