Egypt, Turkiye warn of catastrophic repercussions of continued violence, escalating conflict in region

Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, warned in a phone call today of the catastrophic and dangerous repercussions of the continued cycle of violence and escalating conflict in the region, which threatens regional and international peace and security.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry stated in a press release that the call addressed the latest regional developments in light of the dangerous military escalation in the region, emphasising the importance of de-escalation and prioritising diplomatic and political solutions to contain the situation. They also discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations.

Regarding developments in Sudan, both sides stressed the need to respect the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of the country, emphasising the importance of advancing efforts to achieve calm and create a conducive environment for resuming the comprehensive political process in Sudan.
