The workshop on 'Capacity Building for Researchers' organised by QU-CENG and the British Council.
Qatar University College of Engineering (QU-CENG) and the British Council yesterday organised two workshops on “Capacity Building for Researchers”, aimed to promote professional development among researchers in key areas outlined by the Vitae Researcher Development Framework, and to boost their critical thinking and communication skills.
Organised in collaboration with the UK Science and Innovation Network (SIN) and the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), the workshops engaged over 40 early career researchers.
The participants were provided with a series of modules delivered by experienced trainers. They gained a deep understanding of and got an insight into the tools of an effective communication.
In his remarks, CENG Dean Dr Khalifa Al-Khalifa said: “This event is part of CENG’s commitment to developing the research outcomes delivered by researchers and to strengthening collaborations between academic organizations in Qatar. This will contribute to helping researchers at CENG reach the required results at the needed time using the best procedures and methods in a way that will benefit the society in Qatar and the region.”
British Council Qatar Director Dr Frank Fitzpatrick said: “The British Council seeks to promote collaboration with the UK in education and culture worldwide and we are delighted that we are collaborating with Qatar University in developing their research capability so that their researchers can participate in further scientific collaboration with the UK in future.”
The workshops are part of the Gulf-UK science program that includes symposia across the Gulf, development and leadership programs for women in science, and professional development workshops. They mainly focused on persuasive proposals and academic collaboration, which are the most needed skills for researchers.
