Doha, Qatar: Ooredoo has donated QR5,000,000 to support the relief campaign for the people of Aleppo, as a gesture of solidarity with the people of Syria.
The donation was made as one of many during the National Day fundraising campaign at Darb El Saai last night. The drive raised more than QR238 million in less than six hours, to support Syrians in the besieged city of Aleppo.
Ooredoo is also providing discounted calls to Syria, with a special rate of 30Dhs per minute and SMS, to enable people to reach friends and family across the nation.
The discounted international calls offer applies to all mobile calls made between 16-23 December using the international code +963 to Syria. This 30Dhs rate will be applicable after a customer’s international allowance has been consumed.
Ooredoo also provided free calls to Syria throughout Qatar National Day on Sunday.
Waleed Mohamed Ebrahim Al Sayed, Chief Executive Officer, Ooredoo Qatar, said: “Ooredoo is proud to stand with so many Qatar companies and families who have donated to Syrian relief efforts to help the people of Aleppo. We hope that our donation and our reduced call rates will provide some comfort to people during this difficult time.”
Five Qatar charities will benefit from the fund-raising campaign, including Qatar Charity, Eid Charity, Qatar Red Crescent, Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) and Afif Charity.
