Doha, Qatar: In a bid to foster cultural understanding and introduce expatriate communities to Qatar’s rich heritage, the Sheikh Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center recently organised a guided visit for 68 Spanish-speaking residents to the Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani Mosque in The Pearl-Qatar.
The initiative is part of the Center’s ongoing efforts to familiarise non-Arabic-speaking residents with the country’s cultural fabric, history, and deep-rooted traditions.
During the comprehensive tour, visitors were introduced to the essential components of the mosque, including the Mihrab (prayer niche), the Minbar (pulpit), the prayer halls, and the ablution areas, alongside an explanation of how worshippers align during prayers. The delegation also learned about the mosque’s unique architectural style.
Guides highlighted historical techniques used to control natural light, the artistic integration of stained glass, and the natural acoustics shaped by the building’s distinctive domes and Mihrab. Beyond the aesthetics, organisers elaborated on the pivotal role of the mosque as a spiritual and social hub in the Muslim community.
The visitors actively engaged with the programme, expressing their deep appreciation for the Sheikh Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center’s dedication to building cultural bridges and promoting local heritage among Qatar’s diverse communities.
