Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Interior (MOI) launched a safety awareness campaign to educate drivers about the dangers of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning inside vehicles. The MOI advised motorists to:
• Avoid running engines for long periods in closed or poorly ventilated areas.
• Regularly check the exhaust system for leaks or rust.
• Be alert for symptoms such as drowsiness, headache, dizziness, nausea, or chest pain.
Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas that can be deadly when inhaled in enclosed spaces. It is produced by incomplete fuel combustion, especially when the car engine runs for extended periods in closed areas.
Drivers are urged to immediately open windows and exit the vehicle if they experience any warning signs, ensuring fresh air intake.
