DOHA: Under the patronage of Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Ministry of Energy and Industry will organise the 6th Asian Ministerial Energy Roundtable (AMER6) in coordination with the International Energy Forum (IEF).
Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdulla bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, is scheduled to open the Roundtable on November 9, in the presence of a large number of energy ministers from Asia as well as many international energy organisations.
H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, the Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman of AMER, said that the 6th round of this biannual meeting will be held at a very critical time, in view of the recent developments in the energy industry. He said AMER6 is particularly significant since Asia is home to the world’s largest oil and gas reserves and most of the world’s energy consumers. Invitations have been sent to 30 ministers from Asian countries that are members of the International Energy Forum, he said.
Sheikh Mishal bin Jabor Al Thani, chairman of the AMER6 Organising Committee said that the Ministry of Energy and Industry had made all necessary arrangements to ensure the success of the prestigious event. He added that most of the ministers invited had already confirmed their attendance, as well as senior officials from international organizations, such as Opec, IEF, OAPEC, GECF, OFID and IEA.
