Riyadh: Major General Turki Al-Maliki, Official Spokesperson for the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, announced that Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces successfully intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi group toward the city of Riyadh early Saturday morning.

In a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Al-Maliki said that the Houthi group's escalation and continued attempts to target civilians and civilian objects in the capital, Riyadh—home to more than eight million citizens and residents—demonstrate its intransigence and persistence in "deliberately and systematically targeting civilians and civilian objects, in a terrorist and hostile manner."

He added that the Houthi group also attempted to target civilians and civilian objects in the cities of Baish, Taif, Farasan, and Yanbu, noting that air defenses thwarted these attempts.

Al-Maliki emphasized the Coalition Command's right to take appropriate measures—in accordance with international humanitarian law and its customary rules—to deter the Houthi group's conduct.
