Doha: A group of Universities, colleges and higher education institutions in Qatar are ready to celebrate the International Day of University Sport (IDUS) tomorrow by organising a series of sport, physical and entertainment activities at their headquarters under the Umbrella of Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation (QCSF).
By celebrating the IDUS, the QCSF will begin a debut activity on road to develop the sport and physical activities inside the higher education institutions in a way that will keep everyone opened-minded to build better sport culture and exercise sports day in day out.
The IDUS is a key official sport event approved in agenda of the United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organization (UNESCO) and adopted by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), with the aim of creating links between universities and local communities to develop both health and sport for everyone.
This IDUS coincides in most countries around the world with the beginning of the academic year, therefore has been proclaimed and approved by UNESCO to be celebrated annually on September 20, because it is also the kick off date of the first Student World Championships in 1924.
