The total aid provided by the Zakat Fund at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs for needy families in the country last August amounted to QR17.3m, the fund said.
The aid is distributed to people registered with the fund and included permanent and temporary aids and also coincided with Eid Al Adha and the beginning of the academic year.
The funds were distributed as per the Shariah and legal rules approved by Zakat Fund, which guarantees the delivery of assistance to beneficiaries in need.
Zakat Fund added that these aids are provided after comprehensively assessing each beneficiary and undertaking a social and field research. The cases are then presented to specialized committees who meet almost on a daily basis to asses the cases. The fund receives zakat from their main branch in Salwa road and other branches in different areas of the country.
