Al Gannas Society launches special library at Hunting & Falcons Expo

Al Gannas Society is launching the society’s library project during Katara International Hunting and Falcons Exhibition (Suhail) in its first edition, which starts tomorrow and continues until September 24.

Al Gannas Society Chairman, Ali bin Khatem Al Mehshadi, (pictured) said that the library project includes more than 150 books on falconry and hunting in Qatar, the Arab world and the world, in Arabic, English and other languages in order to preserve the heritage of falconry in Qatar and the world, and to enhance the efforts of Unesco, which recognized the falconry as a global human heritage in 2010.

He added that Al Gannas Society will work on the presentation of future projects through its own wing at the exhibition, which includes everything related to the society and its achievements locally and internationally. He pointed out that the Suhail exhibition will be full of surprises such as announcing the launch of membership and receiving applications. 

The applicant must be Qatari to complete the form and also and over the age of 18. During the exhibition days, passports will be issued for the birds in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment as well as the announcement of the calendar of competitions by the end of this year, including the Qatar championship 2017, which will take place between Nov. 2 and 4, and the championship of Al Gannas Society will be held from Nov. 29 to Dec. 2.
