Over 367,000 get RAF sacrificial meat in 42 countries

DOHA: Sheikh Thani Bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) has provided meat of sacrificial animals worth over QR7m to hundreds of thousands of poor people in 42 countries across the world.
More than 367,000 people, including widows and orphans, benefitted from the initiative during Eid Al-Adha. The initiative was launched in collaboration with dozens of local partners of RAF in 21 Africans, 16 Asians and five Europeans countries.
Local partners slaughtered sacrificial animals and distributed meat to most deserving people as per the list of needy people prepared for the purpose.
The project aimed at bringing smiles to Muslims on the occasion and priorities were given to places facing political unrest and natural disasters. 
The beneficiary African countries included Ethiopia, Sudan, Somalia, Malawi, Morocco, Senegal, Niger, Burundi, Benin, Chad, Mauritania, Tanzania, Tunisia, Comoros, Djibouti, Malawi, Ivory Coast, Gambia, Kenya, Mali and Togo.
Syria topped the Asian countries benefiting from the gesture.
Meat was distributed across Syria and to Syrian refugees in Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey. Iraqi refugees, flood-hit Filipinos, displaced and poor people in Myanmar and Yemen also received the meat. 
Poor Muslims of India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Nepal also benefitted. The European countries included Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Macedonia, Albania, and the UK.The Peninsula
