Amir, Iraq Prime Minister hold talks

Doha, Qatar: The Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and His Excellency Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi, Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq, held an official meeting at Lusail Palace on Sunday, July 19, 2026.

His Highness the Amir welcomed His Excellency the Prime Minister and the accompanying delegation, expressing his wishes for the continued development and growth of the brotherly relations between the two countries in various fields.

For his part, the Iraqi Prime Minister offered his condolences to His Highness the Amir on the passing of the late Father Amir His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani. He also expressed his gratitude to His Highness the Amir for the warm reception, and hoped that the visit would contribute to strengthening cooperation between the two countries to broader horizons.

During the meeting, bilateral relations and ways to strengthen and develop them in various fields were discussed, in addition to the most prominent regional and international issues and developments, particularly the evolving situation in the region. Both sides emphasized the necessity for all parties to adhere to dialogue and diplomacy, and to implement what was agreed upon within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, including ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and promoting regional stability.

The meeting was attended by HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Khulaifi, Chief of the Amiri Diwan; and HE Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On the Iraqi side, the session was attended by HE Fuad Hussein, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and a number of Their Excellencies, senior officials.
