Doha: Qatar Career Fair (QCF), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), took part in International Centre for Career Development and Public Policy 2015 Symposium.
Career guidance and development organisations from over 85 countries attended the conference in Iowa, US, last month.
QCF demonstrated its dedication to unlocking human potential, QF’s overarching vision and showcased how QCF is helping create a knowledge-based economy by providing unique, world-class education, work experience, and career opportunities.
The four-day symposium was held under the theme ‘Building the Talent Pipeline and Providing Youth with a Hope for the Future’.
QCF presented a Qatar-based paper, highlighting the value and impact of career guidance on individual quality of life and economic growth.
It shed light on key areas in Qatar’s career development spectrum, the first of which tackled challenges that impede the setting up of an effective career advancement platform.
The second section addressed how new and well-established information and communications technologies (ICT) are used in career development projects, policies, and research.
The third section focused on value and impact of career guidance on the standards of living for individuals and economic growth, and how to evaluate the impact of policies on employment and youth development.
The fourth section discussed ways to encourage employers to develop local talent, roles, and official and non-official mechanisms that see the participation or adoption of employers to recruit and develop a young Qatari workforce.
The study demonstrated that the national development strategy incorporates sub-plans, initiatives, and projects driving preparation, placement and development of national workforce, involving the public and private sectors.
