Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced on Thursday that Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys received STEM accreditation from Cognia, a global non-profit organisation and one of the world’s leading institutions for educational accreditation and school development.
In a statement, the ministry said that this accreditation followed a rigorous and comprehensive review that resulted in an exceptional evaluation of the school, which received a score of 3.9 out of 4, significantly exceeding the required accreditation threshold of 2.7. It emphasised that this distinction reflects the high quality of the school’s educational outcomes and aligns with the efforts of the ministry’s department of vocational, technical, and specialised education to provide pioneering education that meets national aspirations.
The ministry further noted that this accreditation transcends the traditional model of school evaluation, representing an “international endorsement” and a strategic partnership that grants the STEM curriculum global recognition and high credibility. This confirms to prestigious universities worldwide that the school’s outcomes meet international standards and helps overcome obstacles to academic admission for its students in vital fields such as medicine, engineering, and computer science.
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education also noted that this accreditation will enhance the quality of teaching performance by monitoring student engagement and designing lessons tailored to their abilities. It will also provide professional development programmes that meet teachers’ actual needs.
