Doha, Qatar: Minister of Municipality, H E Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah headed the State of Qatar’s delegation at the 39th Session of the General Assembly of the Arab Organisation for Agricultural Development (AOAD), held yesterday via videoconference.
The General Assembly reviewed number of agenda items, including the organisation’s activities, programmes, and projects, and explored ways to further strengthen Arab cooperation in the fields of agricultural development and food security. The Assembly also considered the necessary decisions and recommendations concerning the items on the meeting agenda.
In his speech during the meeting, the Minister of Municipality expressed the State of Qatar’s appreciation and gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, H E Eng. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadley, for the valuable efforts undertaken during its presidency of the previous session and its continued contributions to advancing the organisation’s programmes and strengthening the joint Arab cooperation.
He also congratulated the State of Kuwait on assuming the presidency of the current session of the General Assembly, wishing the State of Kuwait all the success in leading the session’s programmes and achieving the expected outcomes that contribute to the development of the agricultural sector and food security.
The Minister emphasised that food security remains a fundamental pillar of national security and economic stability, stressing the importance of strengthening Arab integration, expanding areas of cooperation, and investing in innovation and modern agricultural technologies to build more efficient, sustainable, and resilient food systems capable of responding effectively to current and future challenges.
He reaffirmed the State of Qatar’s support for the Arab Organisation for Agricultural Development and for the initiatives that promote joint Arab action, facilitate the exchange of expertise, support capacity-building efforts, and promote knowledge sharing among Arab countries, with the aim of achieving sustainable Arab food security.
He also underscored Qatar’s commitment to continuing cooperation and coordination with Arab countries in a manner that serves shared interests and advances food security and sustainable agricultural development.
