DOHA: The Traffic Department has launched an awareness campaign for trainers of driving schools and set up a special committee for the purpose.
There are over 700 licensed trainers, including 20 women, working with driving schools.
Captain Fahd Al Merri, Chairman, driving licence section at the department, said the campaign aims to raise awareness among trainers about the principles of safe driving and importance of complying with them to create disciplined drivers.
He was speaking at an awareness campaign at the department in Medinat Khalifa.
“From our experience we have learned that there must be continuous awareness and follow-up on trainers’ performance to make them comply with training standards,” said Al Merri.
He said during the campaign, participants are told about the trainees’ right to lodge complaints with the department against their trainers and seek solutions.
Khalid Abdul Azeez Al Ghanim, general supervisor of driving schools, said violations by driving schools have reduced, thanks to increased awareness and stiff penalties. The Peninsula
