Four Qataris win innovation awards

DOHA: Four Qatari innovators have won laurels at the International Exhibition of Innovation of Geneva 2016, held recently. They have won gold, silver and bronze medals in the competitions.
The Qatari innovators competed with more than 700 innovators from 48 countries in the world and it is the first time all the Qatari participants have won medals. Muhsin Al Sheikh won gold for his innovative cheque printer, Fahad Rashis Al Ubaid won silver for his device named “the third eye” developed to help border guards monitor military areas.
Hamad Jassim Al Bahr also won a silver medal for his protective shield against bullets. Hatmi Al Hatmi who participated for the first time won bronze medal for his innovation on reprogramming of traffic signals using sensors to reduce traffic jams at the signals.
“I feel happy and proud to see Qatari innovators contesting in Geneva’s international exhibition with others coming from different parts of the world,” said Qatar’s Permanent representative to the UN Office in Geneva, Faisal bin Abdullah Al Henzab. “I appreciate the role being played by the Qatar Scientific Club in producing excellent innovations.” The Peninsula
