Berlin--Norway's double world champion Anders Bardal, 32, announced his retirement on Thursday ahead of the culmination of the current ski jumping season.
"After 25 years of ski jumping, 15 of them in the World Cup, I have decided to quit ski jumping. On Sunday, March 15th, 2015, I made my final jump on the Holmenkollen," Bardal said in a statement.
There is still one event to go in the World Cup season at Planica, Slovenia where Bardal will watch from the sidelines.
"I always said that I wanted to retire as long as it's still going well. I now have the feeling that I don't have 100% motivation anymore to do what is necessary to be among the best in the world", said Bardal who won the normal hill world title in 2013 and team crown in 2015.
Bardal picked up seven World Cup victories in his career, and won the overall title in 2012, as well as bronze medals in the team event at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and individual bronze on the normal hill at Sochi 2014.
