Qatar reaffirms commitment to investing in safer future for all road users

Doha, Qatar: The Minister of Transport H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani met with the Minister of Transport and Logistics of the Kingdom of Morocco H E Abdessamad Kayouh, on the sidelines of the United Nations Road Safety Fund (UNRSF) High-Level Pledging Forum in Marrakech.

The two officials discussed cooperation in the areas of transportation and its associated mobility and logistics activities, commercial ports, and civil aviation, and ways to take those relations to broader horizons. They also touched upon the latest global developments in enhancing road safety.

Minister of Transport headed the State of Qatar’s delegation to the United Nations Road Safety Fund (UNRSF) High-Level Pledging Forum, which opened in Marrakech, the Kingdom of Morocco. Several ministers from multiple countries, representatives of the UN and global road safety organizations, and senior officials of private sector companies were in attendance.

The Minister affirmed Qatar’s commitment to investing in a safer future for all road users around the world, adding that Qatar’s contribution of $450,000 to the UNRSF in its first commitment as part of the Forum’s commitments emphasises Qatar’s endeavours to achieve road safety and lower road accidents.  

“The State of Qatar supports all the efforts of the UN and its bodies to achieve the aspired goals with relation to road safety to protect life and property and enhance sustainable development,” he said.
