Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani with Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Adel bin Ahmed Al Jubeir, on the sidelines of Munich Security Conference yesterday.
Munich: Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani met yesterday with the envoy of US President to the International Coalition against ISIS, Brett Macgork, on the sidelines of Munich Security Conference.
Talks during the meeting dealt with the current situation in Syria and Iraq and the efforts being exerted in the war against ISIS group. The Foreign Minister stressed the State of Qatar's commitment to these efforts.
The Foreign Minister met also on the sidelines of the Conference with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the French Republic Jean-Marc Ayrault.
The two sides discussed the latest political developments on the regional and international arenas, particularly the current situation in Syria.
During the meeting, the Foreign Minister discussed the results of the meeting of the states with similar opinion on the Syrian issue, stressing the importance of following up the results of the Geneva meeting.
The Foreign Minister also met with the National Security Advisor of Myanmar, U Thaung Tun. The meeting reviewed bilateral relations as well as a number of issues of mutual interest.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani also held a meeting with the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Dr Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on the sidelines of the conference.
The Minister conveyed the greetings of Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to the Afghan President and best wishes of further progress and prosperity for the Afghan people.
The Afghan President conveyed his greetings to the Emir, wishing him the best of health and happiness and for the State of Qatar further development and prosperity.
Talks during the meeting dealt with bilateral relations and means of enhancing them in addition to a number of issues of common interest.
The Foreign Minister also met with the Commissioner General for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) Pierre Krahenbuh on the sideline of the Munich Conference.
They discussed the situations of Palestinian refugees, and ways to provide support for them in the field of education.
The Minister said Qatar believes in the importance of education as the main source of security, stability and decent livelihood. He reiterated Qatar's commitment to support all the efforts to help Palestinian people to achieve their legitimate aspirations.
