DOHA: A strike in injury time by Mohsin Hassan Al Yazeedi yesterday saved the day for Al Ahli who managed a fighting 2-2 draw against Al Khor at Hamad Bin Khalifa Stadium
Helal Mohammed (12) and Madson (65) helped Al Khor take the lead but Jouhen Beitsoun (27) and Al Yazeedi (92) helped Al Ahli share points.
Al Khor opened the scoring in the 12th minute through a spectacular effort by Mohammed. In the 27th minute, a goalkeeper’s blunder cost Al Khor as the rivals produced the equaliser.
Magid Mohammed, after getting a ball on an indirect corner kick, slipped a cross to Beitsoun who was beaten to the ball by goalkeeper Kane.
In the second half, Al Khor doubled their tally with a Madson strike. Madson tapped a loopy cross from the flank, deflecting the ball past keeper Naim in the 57th minute. In injury time, Al- Yazeedi fired a left-footed drive to beat a diving Kane for the equaliser.
Point leaders Al Duhail will meet Al Arabi while Al Markhiya and Qatar SC will square off in today’s other match. Both the matches will be played at Al Arabi Stadium.
