Gate Art Gallery displays works by Arab artists

The Gate Art Gallery launched its new art exhibition titled “Art at The Gate” on Friday. The exhibition included works of four Arabic painters from Iraq and Syria. The artists were Suhair Al Khayat, Ismail Azzam, Bashir Taha from Iraq and artist Nabil Murad from Syria.

The exhibition attracted people from different Arabic and foreign communities as well as art students from Virginia Common Wealth University in Qatar .

The Iraqi ambassador to Qatar Dr Juad Al Hindawi also visited the exhibition, among other dignitaries.

The exhibition showcased abstract and realistic paintings as well as beautiful landscapes. Artist Suhair Al Khayat’s work is influenced by Islamic architecture and Arabic calligraphy with all its geometric shapes and colors, while Nabil Murad’s paintings describe the old Damascene alleys, mosque minarets, souks, archways and the beautiful historic old houses.

Ismail Azzam, a well known artist based in Qatar participated with five unique works depicting landscapes and streets from Iraq and Qatar, while Bashir Taha presented beautiful romantic landscapes with harmonious colours from his home town Al Mousl .

The exhibition will continue until December 3 and will be open to public during the mall’s working hours, from 10am to10pm from Saturday to Thursday and on Friday from 3pm to10pm.The Peninsula
