The 11th meeting of the major donors group for Syria will open in Doha today under the chairmanship of the UN Secretary-Generals Humanitarian Envoy Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Muraikhi.
The meeting, which is being hosted in Doha for the second time, aims to strengthen humanitarian dialogue among donors, assess efforts in the humanitarian response to this crisis and strengthen international efforts in this regard.
The major Syria donors group was established following the Second International Humanitarian Pledging Conference on Syria in Kuwait in 2014, with the aim of establishing a platform for major donors to discuss issues related to ensuring disbursement of pledges and strengthening humanitarian dialogue among donors. Over the past three years, the group has played a key role in ensuring the implementation of the political and financial commitments made at the Syria Support Conferences.
