Doha: VLCC, along with Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) has joined efforts to create awareness to fight breast cancer.
As October begins, the world is united to spread awareness about breast cancer, recognised by ‘pink ribbon’ associated with individual generosity, faith in scientific progress and a “can-do” attitude.
It encourages consumers to focus on the emotionally appealing ultimate vision of a cure for breast cancer.
Recognising its role in transforming lives and imbibe every individual with wellness for life, VLCC works with QCS to create awareness about breast cancer, with this year’s theme of co-branded pink uniform and in-house events, with guests being invited to a presentation by VLCC dietitians on early detection through self-examination. The presentation explained benefits of anti-oxidants food and special detox to prevent breast cancer, and VLCC programmes offered on the occasion.
“Women may reduce risk of breast cancer by maintaining a healthy weight, drinking less alcohol, being physically active and breastfeeding their children. These modifications might prevent breast cancers along with early detection, Benefits with moderate exercise such as brisk walking are seen in all age groups, including postmenopausal women, healthy diet that includes omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids appear to reduce the risk.

Breast cancer develops from breast tissue. Signs may include a lump in the breast, a change in breast shape, dimpling of the skin, fluid coming from the breast, or a red scaly patch of skin.
In those with distant spread of the disease, there may be bone pain, swollen lymph nodes, shortness of breath, or yellow skin.
One in eight women is diagnosed with breast cancer, with 98 percent survival rate if detected at early stages, a healthy diet and exercise routine can reduce the chance for breast cancer by nearly 40 percent.
