DOHA: Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Doha and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), yesterday organised the Qatar-Korea Artificial Intelligence Forum under the theme ‘Qatar-Korea Cooperation in Artificial Intelligence Innovations.’
The forum was attended by Assistant Undersecretary for Digital Industry Affairs at MCIT, Reem Mohammed Al Mansoori; Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the State of Qatar, H E Yun Hyunsoo; and the Regional President of KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency) MENA Head Office, Byung Ho Kim, along with other officials.
During her opening remarks at the forum, Al Mansoori emphasised that the Ministry is driving forward a broad range of initiatives, such as the National AI Program and the newly established National AI Center, as they are reinforced by key platforms including the Digital Incubation Centre, the TASMU Accelerator, Scale Now, and SMEs Go Digital.
She said, “Together, these initiatives build a connected ecosystem that has already empowered hundreds of startups and entrepreneurs. They enable industry partners to innovate and scale AI solutions, ensuring our national strategies create real impact across society.”
The official stressed that the collaboration with Scale AI enables government entities to leverage predictive analytics, automation, and advanced data insights to enhance efficiency and public services. By 2029, over 50 AI-driven use cases are set to be deployed, with several projects already in motion, taking tangible steps that integrate AI into everyday governance and drive economic growth.
Al Mansoori said, “The cooperation between Qatar and Korea is both practical and promising. By aligning Qatar’s strategic vision and investment environment with Korea’s technological expertise, we can speed up progress in research, infrastructure, and talent development.”
“The forum offers a valuable chance to promote business-to-business collaboration and establish new channels of communication between our two countries. These connections support the development of innovative projects that enhance both Qatar’s and Korea’s global standing in the AI field,” Al Mansoori added.
Ambassador Hyunsoo stated, “Qatar and Korea have proven readiness in leading the AI sector. Korea brings advanced technology, research capacity, and industrial expertise. Qatar brings vision, resources, and a strong drive for transformation. When these strengths are aligned, we can create opportunities unimagined in the past.”
Ho Kim, Regional President of KOTRA, noted that Qatar recently established the National AI Center, which made significant strides toward becoming a global leader in AI by advancing national policies such as the Digital Agenda 2030. “Korea is also driving innovative business efforts to become one of the world’s top three AI leaders. I believe today’s forum will serve as a true platform for our collaboration,” he said. “Korean companies will share AI technologies that can align with Qatar’s goals. Together, we can turn ideas into reality and contribute to Qatar’s transformation.”
