NINEVEH, Iraq: A suicide bombing killed two Kurdish peshmerga forces and injured three others in northern Iraq on Sunday.

A Daesh bomber blew himself up inside a peshmerga forces center east of Mosul, Kurdish officer Shirzad Zakholi told Anadolu Agency.

He said the bombing came as Daesh terrorists launched attacks against peshmerga forces in east and south-east Mosul.

“But these attacks were repelled by Kurdish forces,” he said.

Backed by U.S.-led warplanes, Iraqi forces are currently preparing to launch an anticipated offensive to recapture Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city, from Daesh, which overran the city in 2014.
