Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Transport has reminded residents, citizens and visitors to use only licensed companies when booking passenger transport services through digital applications, as part of efforts to protect riders and ensure safe, regulated transport services.

“You can access the list of companies licensed by the Ministry of Transport to carry out land transport service activities using modern technology (software and electronic applications) in the State of Qatar,” the Ministry said in a post on its X account yesterday.

As per latest information, the Ministry published the list on August 13, on its website, of companies licensed to provide land transport services using modern technology and electronic applications in Qatar. The list includes Uber, badrgo, Aabir, Karwa, Ryde, EzGo, Wer2go, iDriver, WaselGo and QGlide.

The Ministry’s public licensing announcements give passengers a straightforward way to verify whether an app-based transport provider is authorised to operate in the country. Riders can check the Ministry of Transport’s official announcements before using an unfamiliar ride-hailing application.

The licensing system is more than a list of approved companies. It provides a regulatory framework intended to protect passengers by requiring operators to meet legal and safety requirements.

The Ministry earlier said that it is working to ensure that companies providing passenger transport through electronic applications comply with safety standards and the requirements of Law No. 8 of 2019 Regulating Road Transport, together with its implementing regulations under Ministerial Decision No. 13 of 2024.

The Ministry also conducts inspections in cooperation with relevant departments of the Ministry of Interior. During inspections carried out in the first quarter of 2026, authorities recorded 32 violations involving licensed limousine companies and companies providing passenger transport through electronic applications. The campaigns covered areas across Qatar, with particular attention to busy commercial, service and other high-traffic locations.

For riders, the enforcement means that choosing a licensed provider gives them an important layer of regulatory protection. According to the Ministry, its oversight is aimed at ensuring safe, high-quality transport services and maintaining a fair competitive environment, while pursuing unlicensed operators and applying the penalties provided under the law.

The Ministry has previously taken action against companies operating without the required licence. In 2025, for example, an inspection campaign found a company providing passenger transport through an electronic application without prior Ministry of Transport authorisation, alongside violations involving drivers transporting passengers without the required licensing.

Passengers can therefore take a simple precaution before booking and it is to check that the app or company appears on the Ministry of Transport’s current licensed-provider list and use licensed services only.

The Ministry’s licensing and inspection system is designed to help ensure that app-based passenger transport operates according to Qatar’s safety, service and legal requirements.
