500 kids treated at Paediatric Emergency

DOHA: Hospitals of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) received 1,263 patients, including 500 children, on the first day of Eid Al-Fitr.
The main Paediatric Emergency Center (PEC) of HMC in Al Sadd received children with varied problems yesterday.
Their conditions vary from minor to severe, and most were treated for cold, cough and stomach upsets, said Dr Khalid Al Ansari, Director of Paediatric Emergency Services at HMC.
Although health services are provided immediately to all children brought to the PEC, despite their condition, Dr Al Ansari urged parents to be more cooperative with the medical staff so that the ailment can be diagnosed and treated quickly.
Among the other patients, 463 were treated at the Hamad General Hospital (HGH), and 300 at the Al Wakrah Hospital mainly for injuries received in road accidents, chest pains, stomach upset and indigestion, Al Sharq 
reported.
Patients were received between 6am and 6pm yesterday.
Dr Mahmoud Fawzi, a Specialist at the HGH’s Emergency Department said that 30 specialist consultants and 90 doctors work round-the-clock to treat patients during the Eid holidays. 
Five deaths were reported on the first day of Eid, including four from road accidents and one due to cardiac arrest.
Also, the ambulance services received 550 calls between 3am to 6pm yesterday, with 80 cases related to road accidents.
The ambulance service responded to seven calls with air ambulances, 75 calls with regular ambulances and six with SUVs.
Also, 13 bicycles are made available by the ambulance service in crowded areas to provide first aid.
Emergency service units are also deployed at the Hamad International Airport (HIA), Katara Cultural Village and 
Aspire zone.
According to Hussain Mohamed Karmous, Assistant Director, Ambulances Services, HMC Calls received from HIA on the first day of Eid Al-Fitr has increased due to the large number of people travelling in and out of the country.
