Doha, Qatar: Qatar is set host the meeting of the group of practitioners on climate and disaster risk reduction on Monday, organized by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
The meeting, which will be held from June 19 to 21, is aimed to enhance the ability to deal with disasters and reduce its effects.
The meeting falls within the framework of the global efforts made in response to the ramifications of climate change and minimise its threatening effects and risks on humanity, which also includes the efforts of humanitarian organizations.
It is set to discuss topics such as the latest developments related to reducing the risks of climate change as well as exchanging views, knowledge, experiences and practices in this field, in hopes of developing strategies that reduce the increasing negative impacts of climate change.
The meeting is a valuable opportunity for people involved in the disaster response field work and scientific research to further establish their understanding and experience, especially considering the increasing challenges that humanity faces.
