Doha, Qatar: The Civil Service and Government Development Bureau (CGB) is aiming to empower government employees across sectors, including artificial intelligence (AI) and project management, as part of ongoing efforts to reinforce institutional performance and support sustainable development across Qatar’s public sector.

In a statement posted on X, the Bureau announced that “the Public Administration Institute is organising a series of specialised workshops in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar.”

The initiative reflects CGB’s commitment to developing national competencies and preparing government work environments to meet the evolving demands of modern governance and institutional transformation.
It mentioned that the workshops are expected to provide participants with practical knowledge and internationally informed approaches that help improve the quality and effectiveness of public sector performance.

According to the statement, “The workshops aim to develop the skills of government employees in areas of improving institutional performance, leading change, artificial intelligence, and enhancing operational efficiency and project management.”

The Bureau noted that the workshops focus on operational excellence and the application of modern practices within the governmental work environment, helping employees adapt to rapid technological and administrative changes. The programme is designed to strengthen institutional readiness and encourage innovation in public sector operations.

Among the key topics featured in the workshop series are improving government processes to achieve operational excellence, internal auditing and the growing role of AI, project management using agile methodologies tailored for the government sector, and leadership strategies for organisational transformation from vision to implementation.

The collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar is expected to add significant academic and practical value to the initiative.

Known for its expertise in technology, management, and innovation, the university will contribute global perspectives and advanced methodologies aimed at enhancing public administration capabilities in Qatar.

The Bureau emphasised that the workshops align with broader national objectives centered on institutional modernisation and human capital development.

By investing in employee training and leadership development, the initiative seeks to build a more agile and future-ready government workforce capable of delivering efficient and high-quality services.

“These workshops come in support of efforts to develop national competencies and enhance the readiness of work environments to keep pace with the requirements of sustainable institutional development,” CGB added.

The emphasis on operational excellence, digital transformation, and organisational leadership highlights the growing importance of equipping government employees with the tools needed to navigate increasingly complex administrative and technological landscapes.

The workshop series also underscores the value of collaboration between public institutions and academic organisations in advancing professional development and institutional innovation.

As Qatar continues its efforts to modernise public administration and strengthen institutional resilience, initiatives such as these workshops are expected to play a key role in enhancing workforce capabilities and promoting a culture of continuous improvement across the government sector.
