Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has announced the formation of the Qatari Hajj Mission for 2026 Hajj season, headed by Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs H E Ghanem bin Shaheen bin Ghanem Al Ghanim, as part of Qatar’s ongoing efforts to provide comprehensive services and ensure a safe and comfortable pilgrimage experience for Qatari pilgrims.

Under the ministerial decision, Director of the Department of Hajj and Umrah Affairs Ali bin Sultan Al Misifri, was appointed Deputy Head of the mission. The mission also includes representatives from several ministries and state institutions, including the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Public Health, and the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, to ensure integrated coordination and efficient delivery of services to pilgrims.

The ministry stated that the mission’s structure includes an advisory committee along with several specialized administrative and technical units working within an integrated framework aimed at delivering high-quality services to pilgrims throughout the Hajj season.

The ministry noted that the integrated formation of the mission reflects its commitment to enhancing field and administrative efficiency and ensuring full coordination with the relevant authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to provide the highest standards of safety, quality, and comfort for pilgrims. 

As part of the early preparations for the Hajj season, support units within the mission have already begun travelling in successive delegations to Saudi Arabia to complete logistical and operational arrangements. Specialized teams have started preparing pilgrims’ camps in Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah, while also finalizing healthcare contracts and coordinating with Saudi security authorities and airports to facilitate the arrival and transportation of Qatari pilgrims. Field teams are also monitoring the readiness of accommodation facilities designated for pilgrims in all approved Qatari Hajj campaigns, ensuring compliance with approved service and organisational standards to provide pilgrims with a secure and comfortable environment for performing their rituals.

The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs praised the continuous cooperation and close coordination with Saudi authorities, commending the Kingdom’s significant efforts in serving pilgrims and continuously developing the Hajj system to improve services and streamline procedures for pilgrims from around the world.

The ministry further affirmed that the Qatari Hajj Mission will continue closely monitoring the performance of approved Hajj campaigns to ensure full compliance with regulations and service standards, reflecting Qatar’s commitment to delivering a model and secure Hajj experience in line with the highest levels of organization and integrated services.

The Qatar Hajj Mission is accompanied by an official media delegation comprising representatives from several national media institutions, including Qatar News Agency, Qatar TV, Al Rayyan TV, and Qatar Radio. The delegation aims to provide continuous media coverage of the efforts of the Qatar Hajj Mission, document the Hajj atmosphere and the movements of Qatari pilgrims throughout the pilgrimage journey, and highlight Qatar’s efforts in serving and caring for its pilgrims at various locations within the holy sites.

This integrated structure reflects the commitment of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs to enhancing the efficiency of field and administrative operations and ensuring a coordinated work system that oversees all organisational and service-related aspects concerning the pilgrims.
