PSA: 677 building permits issued in April

The number of building permits issued in April by municipalities in Qatar stood at 677, a decrease of 31 percent compared to 988 permits issued in the previous month, data released by the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) showed.

The PSA in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipality released the 88th issue of the monthly Statistics of Building Permits and Building Completion certificates issued by all municipalities in the country.

According to their geographical distribution, the municipality of Al Rayyan topped the list of the municipalities with 163 permits issued (24 percent of total issued permits), while the municipality of Al Doha came in second place with 153 permits (23 percent), followed by the municipalities of Al Wakrah with 149 permits (22 percent) and Al Da’ayen with 128 permits (19 percent). The rest of the municipalities were: Umm Slal with 34 permits (5 percent), Al Khor with 24 permits (4 percent), Al Sheehaniya with 14 permits (2 percent), and Al Shammal with 12 permits (2 percent).

In terms of types of permits issued, data indicated that the new building permits (residential and non-residential) constitute 57 percent (386 permits) of the total building permits issued in April 2022, while the percentage of additions permits stood at 39 percent (265 permits), and fencing permits with 4 percent (26 permits).

By analysing new residential buildings permits data, it was found that villas topped the list, accounting for 76 percent (218 permits) of all new residential buildings permits, followed by dwellings of housing loans permits by 12 percent (33 permits) and apartments buildings by 11 percent (32 permits).

On the other hand, commercial buildings were found to be in the forefront of non-residential buildings permits accounting for 83 percent (82 permits), followed by mosques with 6 percent (6 permits) and industrial buildings including workshops/factories and other non-residential building with 5 percent each (5 permits each).

In April, the decrease in building permits issued was noted in all of the municipalities: Um Slal (39 percent), Al Doha (34 percent), Al Rayyan (33 percent), Al Wakrah (30 percent), Al Da’ayen (29 percent), Al Shammal (25 percent), Al Khor (23 percent), and Al Sheehaniya (18 percent).

In terms of building completion certificates issued in April 2022, Al Rayyan municipality topped the list of the municipalities with 85 certificates issued (24 percent of total issued certificates), while municipality of Al Wakrah came in second place with 72 certificates (21 percent), followed by the municipalities of Al Da’ayen with 65 certificates (19 percent) and Al Doha with 59 certificates (17 percent). The rest of the municipalities were: Umm Slal with 25 certificates (7 percent), Al Sheehaniya with 21 certificates (6 percent), Al Shammal with 12 certificates (3 percent), and Al Khor with 9 certificates (3 percent).

In terms of types of certificates issued, data indicated that the new building completion certificates (residential and non-residential) constitute 77 percent (268 certificates) of the total building certificates issued in April 2022, while the percentage of additions certificates stood at 23 percent (80 certificates).

By analysing new residential buildings completion certificates data, it was found that villas topped the list, accounting for 63 percent (139 certificates) of all new residential buildings completion certificates, followed by dwellings of housing loans certificates by 26 percent (57 certificates), and apartments buildings by 6 percent (14 certificates).

On the other hand, commercial buildings were found to be in the forefront of non-residential buildings completion certificates accounting for 49 percent (23 certificates), followed by industrial buildings including workshops and factories with 21 percent (10 certificates), and governmental buildings with 17 percent (8 certificates).

The number of certificates issued decreased by 18 percent in April 2022 compared to the previous month. This decrease was clearly noted in most of the municipalities: Umm Slal (47 percent), Al Khor (36 percent), Al Da’ayen (26 percent), Al Doha (23 percent), Al Wakrah (22 percent), and Al Rayyan (14 percent). On the other hand, a significant increase was noted in the municipalities of Al Sheehaniya (320 percent) and Al Shammal (200 percent).
