Nisar visits Karachi, briefed on Safoora bus attack

KARACHI: Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Monday arrived in Karachi where security officials briefed him on the recent terrorist attack on an Ismaili community bus which claimed 46 lives.  

The interior minister visited the Karachi headquarters of the Sindh Rangers where he was briefed by the DG Sindh Rangers Major-General Bilal Akbar over the gruesome attack by terrorists near the city's Safoora Chowrangi area. 

The interior minister was also briefed on the target-killings in Karachi of high-profile personalities.  

According to a spokesperson for the paramilitary force, Nisar appreciated the ongoing Rangers-led targeted operation in Karachi. The interior minister directed the security personnel to bring culprits involved in terrorist acts to justice, he said.  

The interior minister later separately met Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad. 

An earlier press release from the Interior Ministry said that during his Karachi visit Nisar would also meet Ismaili community leader Sultan Ali Allana.
