DOHA: Qatar beat Palestine 2-0 in a friendly at Al Sadd Stadium yesterday, courtesy of Mohammad Kasola’s and Yusef Ahmed’s late strikes.
Kasola gave the hosts the lead in the 79th minute with a powerful header, while Ahmed struck shortly before the final whistle.
The friendly was part of Qatar’s preparations for the FIFA 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Iran and Uzbekistan in June.
Qatar, coached by Fahad Thani, must win their two FIFA qualifiers to have any chance of qualifiying for their first ever World Cup tournament.
Qatar, hosts of the FIFA 2022 World Cup, are in fourth position in Group A, below Uzbekistan and Iran.
Yesterday’s victory was Qatar’s fourth win in six matches, since January 31 of this year.
