DOHA: The Information Technology In Sports Training Course, organised by the Qatar Olympic Academy in collaboration with the International Association of Computer Science in Sport (IACSS), began at the QOC headquarters yesterday.
The QOC Secretary General H E Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani opened the course where he stressed on the importance of information technology in sports sector for evaluation of athletes performance and hosting international sports events.
To continue until February 18, the course is presented by the German Professor Martin Lames, president of the International Association of Computer Science in Sport (IACSS) and Head of the Department of Computer Science in Sports and elite performance of the technical University of Munich in Germany.
In the first lecture, Professor Martin Lames highlighted the topics and futures issues of computer technology in sports. He said that the computer technology aims to bring technological innovation into practical application.
