DOHA: Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs, H E Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed, and Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, H E Laziz Kudratov, yesterday co-chaired the second session of the Qatari–Uzbek Joint Committee on Economic, Trade and Technical Cooperation. Held in Tashkent, the meeting brought together senior officials and representatives from both the public and private sectors of both countries.

The session underscored mutual commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and economic collaboration, and a shared strategic vision to advance investment and trade partnership.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed highlighted the growing momentum of Qatari–Uzbek relations across multiple fields -- stressing the importance of empowering the private sector through the establishment of a Qatari–Uzbek Business Council as an enabler of investor linkages and promoter mutually beneficial projects.

The Minister of State also called for greater utilisation of shared opportunities in priority sectors. He underscored the importance of establishing direct air connectivity between Doha and Tashkent to facilitate trade, tourism and cultural exchanges.

Furthermore, the Minister of State stressed the Joint Committee’s role in shaping a clear roadmap for cooperation, following up on joint initiatives, and ensuring long-term sustainability.

On the sidelines of the session, H E Dr. Al-Sayed met with H E Jamshid Khodjaev, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation and promote growth and prosperity for both nations.
