Doha, Qatar: The State of Qatar has signed an agreement with the United Nations to facilitate the entry of approximately 1.3 million liters of fuel into the Gaza Strip as a grant from Qatar.
The grant comes as part of Qatar's continued urgent response to humanitarian needs and essential services in the Strip. The State of Qatar provided approximately 30 million liters of fuel between Oct. 7, 2023 and the end of March 2026.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the grant comes within the framework of the State of Qatar's continued humanitarian support for the brotherly Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and its efforts to alleviate the humanitarian crisis, meet basic needs and strengthen the humanitarian response in the Strip.
The grant aims to support the continuity of vital services and humanitarian operations and enhance the ability of humanitarian organizations to continue providing services to the population amid the current humanitarian conditions.
It will also support the health sector, helping ensure the continued operation of a number of hospitals and health centers and the provision of essential services. Approximately 2.1 million Palestinians in Gaza, including children, women, the elderly and persons with disabilities, benefit from health services that depend on fuel.
The grant will also support other vital sectors and services that rely on fuel to ensure the continuity of their operations.
