Geneva: Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva HE Dr. Hind Abdulrahman Al Muftah participated today in the interactive dialogue on the human rights of women and children in conflict and post-conflict situations, under item 3 of the agenda of the 63rd session of the Human Rights Council.
In the State of Qatar's statement, Her Excellency affirmed that protecting women and children during and after armed conflicts was of paramount importance and constituted a priority in the State of Qatar's foreign policy, diplomacy and humanitarian programs.
Her Excellency said that, within this framework, the State of Qatar had launched several international initiatives, including Resolution 60/19, in partnership with the Republic of Costa Rica, on promoting and protecting the human rights of women and children in conflict and post-conflict situations, as well as the Women in Conflict Zones initiative launched by the State in September 2022 to strengthen the protection of women and ensure their effective participation in peace processes.
HE the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva also referred to the State of Qatar's hosting of the Analysis and Outreach Hub of the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict, in support of prevention and monitoring efforts.
Her Excellency renewed the State of Qatar's call on all parties to conflicts to fulfill their obligations under international law and immediately end grave violations committed against women and children. She also stressed the importance of ensuring justice, holding the perpetrators of such violations accountable, and providing victims with effective remedies and reparations in accordance with international law.
