Doha: President of the Republic of Tajikistan H E Emomali Rahmon affirmed that the Israeli aggression against the State of Qatar constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter.
In his address at the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit held in Doha on Monday, H E President Rahmon described the attack on the State of Qatar as deplorable, stressing that it represented an assault on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.
He explained that any act of violence in the region today only escalates tensions, fuels the outbreak of new conflicts, and, in particular, obstructs the processes of negotiation and dialogue aimed at achieving lasting peace and stability.
The President noted that despite widespread condemnation of such provocative actions by the international community, military attacks and violations of the sovereignty of member states have continued over the past three months.
President Rahmon expressed deep regret that over the past two years the international community has witnessed the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, while the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people remain an urgent and unresolved issue on the international agenda.
He stressed that strengthening the unity of the Islamic nation has become more necessary than ever in light of the complex geopolitical circumstances in the region and the world. He emphasised that without effective and fruitful cooperation among member states in the fields of trade, economy, investment, and advanced technologies, achieving the lofty goals of the OIC would be impossible.
